Facebook: The New Online Shopping Centre

As I log onto my Facebook account I contemplate what I will spend the next hour liking and commenting on. I come to the quick conclusion that my sessions have become less social engagement and more shopping excursion. As my like list becomes larger than my friends list I wonder; what is the real use for Facebook now?
It seems it has evolved from a simple social network where we share our embarrassing weekend antics via LOL statuses and candid snaps, into a place where we can locate bespoke dresses, ipad stands, special cakes and almost anything else you can dream to search.
It seems every business has a Facebook page in today’s socially driven society, and rightly so as it clearly is where the masses go to consume. A smart marketing campaign will tap into this source sharing the latest deals and brand news. Facebook allows for quick engagement and sharing, making your brand have a real life presence. This is the platform where people come to explore and share, it’s how they feel connected with others including brands and products. When a person actively ‘likes’ your brand they are already buying into your product or service, now with regular updates, engaging topics you will no doubt have them hooked. Not only will people get involved, they will then tell their friends who are equally consumer driven.
So when planning out your online marketing strategy think Facebook, because that is where you will find me eagerly awaiting your page to purchase your latest product posted. Then update my status informing the rest of my friends how happy I am and “can’t wait for it to arrive!” To then go on to upload a picture of said product on receipt, naturally leading to further likes from all the other eagerly awaiting Facebookers.
