Celebs use twitter to show their support for Barack Obama, he's so cool!

There’s no doubt about the fact that we are living in the digital age with social media playing a huge part in people’s every day lives. Every little trend and issue is broadcast over a number of social media platforms with twitter especially playing an essential role in connecting people from all around the world.
This was furthered this week when the US presidential election trended worldwide with people everywhere in the world letting their thoughts and opinions be known across the web.

Tons of celebrities and politicians joined the masses of election spectators in taking to twitter to let their feelings be known. Infact, right after news presenters around the globe announced that Barack Obama had been re-elected, the man himself took to twitter to thank those who had campaigned for him.
“We’re all in this together. That’s how we campaigned, and that’s who we are. Thank You”
This alone proves that the technology can make the even the most boring things in life, namely politics, become interesting. Can you imagine John Major whipping out his iPhone to tweet about the birds and the bees? No us either.
Eva & Co can’t contain their excitement about Obama’s re-election Admittedly Barack Obama has to be the coolest president the states has ever seen, he even had the likes of Eva Longoria, Katy Perry and Alicia Keys vocally showing support on their page. We can’t image JLS, N-Dubz or Cheryl Cole getting involved with a David Cameron campaign, although it would be cool of some of the Brit celebs had a political voice, even our very own Jessie J had something to say about Obama.
With the boom in social media over the past few years, the face of electoral campaigning has changed and twitter played a huge part in this set of elections further determining its relevance in todays society.
It seems that the days of breaking news and updates being broadcast solely on the TV and radio are over with more personality and opinion variety being seen on social media networks.
Here are some of the tweets of support for Obama:
Actress Eva Longoria who was very vocal in her campaign for Obama’s re-election tweeted: “We did it!!! Obama re-elected!!!!! Yes!! Yes We Can!” We think the exclamation marks show how excited she was.
Avatar star Zoe Saldana said: “Barack Obama!!! The 44th President of The United States of America. God bless America, once again! – ZS” These ladies certainly like their exclamation marks.
Nicole Richie simply tweeted: “We did it America!!!!! #OBAMA” as simple as Beyonce’s “Vote Obama”
Even the Hef got involved, tweeting: “We listened to Obama’s acceptance speech and now it’s time to say goodnight. There are better times ahead for all of us.” Wonder if he got all of the bunnies to vote?
Alan Carr’s approach to American politics On this side of the pond support came from Jessie J, Sara Cox, Davina McCall, Olly Murs, Alexandra Burke, Tinchy Stryder and Niall Horan from One Direction. The best tweet from the UK has to come from comedian Alan Carr who tweeted: “Congrats to Obama, commiserations to Mitt but could America really be governed by a man with the same name as an exfoliating glove” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
The thoughts of the stars will have of course been retweeted numerous times, well in most cases thousands of times. Not only did social media play a huge part in this campaign but it is sure to have an impact on all other future world news.
