Universal Search to include live Twitter information

It was annouced yesterday that Google and Bing have created partnership deals with Twitter to include twitter updates in their Search results.

I’ll liked hearing this information not becuase of the fact if I think it may be useful or not, more becuase I had a conversation with a journalist about 6 months ago and this was one of my predictions, it’s nice when they come to fruition. I actually stumbled across the information reading this page at SEOBook.

The Google quote was as follows:

We look forward to having a product that showcases how tweets can make search better in the coming months. That way, the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favorite ski resort, you’ll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information.

Interesting to the question they posed and how this could relate on a local level i.e. if you were looking at Snow conditions it wouldn’t be that useful if you were ski-ing in france if it displayed tweets from Americans talking about the snow, however this is anouther point of call for Universal search, I think what SEO are going to think about is where they will display the results.

We shall have to wait and see.
