Bing now up to 18% of the UK Search Market

I had an interesting conversation with a contact at Bing today to see where they are up to with things. It seems their presence in the UK is ever growing. From 10% it has now gone up to 18% as of September which is nearly a 90% increase in there search strength. I made the call as to see the effect of Paid search as from a ranking perspective we’ve still seen relatively similar results for what live and MSN search used to display.

One thing is sure we need to keep a keen eye on this market share as if it keeps increasing it will change the face of the internet marketing industry. I mean when’s the last time you carried out SEO for someone who said their main concern was ranking in a search engine that wasn’t Google.

We’ll just have to keep a keen eye and ourears to the ground.

  1. After speaking with the PPC department at Just Search I found further information about Bing from a UK perspective. Bing has only really been soft launched in the UK but actually had a massive marketing budget in the US. We believe that a substantial marketing budget will be spent in the UK in 2010.

  2. They lied to me, I feel cheated after my discussion with Microsoft Adcentre I’ve been reading RSS feeds and watching the News and it appears that the market share is more likely 10% as appose to 18%, Keep trying Bing 🙂
