It’s that time of the year again, race time! Every April Aintree Racecourse is swamped with betters and racing enthusiast alike. They are all there for one thing and one thing only, the John Smith’s Grand National.
Aintree Racecourse, one of the largest horse racing hubs in the world, attracts over 155,000 people for three days like no other. These three days include the Grand opening day, Ladies’ day and the infamous Grand National day.
Along with the 155,000 people attending the event over 11 million people tune into the race on the BBC. With last years event offering many Grand National firsts; a photo finish for the winner, a first win for the champion trainer Paul Nicholls and the third grey to ever win the race in its rich 165-year history.
In terms of network science Aintree is one of the larger racecourse hubs which has more smaller hubs (racecourses) below with then horse trainers, then horses and their riders and finally the mass amount of betters.
